What a CVO is, and what it is not.
Vendors blur verification work with credentialing authority often enough that the difference gets lost, and for a buyer comparing CVOs, the exact scope behind a claim is the thing that actually matters. A credentials verification organization, a CVO, is a company, or an internal team functioning as one, that collects and verifies a clinician’s practitioner history through primary or other recognized sources: license status, education, board certification, sanctions, and related background checks. It delivers a file. It does not grant a privilege, does not employ the clinician, and does not sit on the committee that decides.
NCQA runs a CVO certification program that reviews a CVO’s own verification processes against NCQA’s standards1. The certification applies to those processes, not to the individual providers they verify, and it is voluntary: a CVO can operate without it. Many health plans require a delegated CVO to hold it as a condition of the delegation agreement.

A named authorized reviewer signs for the organization. A delegated CVO can run every check on the left; it cannot hold that reviewer's pen.

03 · Current status
Rōvn does not publish CVO certification status today.
Not a status. A roadmap item, dated, until it changes.
NCQA CVO certification and delegated credentialing agreements are a stated part of the roadmap, not a current status, and this page will say so until that changes. What Rōvn operates today sits above the ledger’s dividing line: collection, primary source checks, packet assembly, and monitoring, receipted. The certification itself is a status Rōvn has not earned, and Rōvn will not claim it before it does.

None of that requires waiting on a certification. What Rōvn runs today, whether an organization runs its own committee or works through a delegated CVO, is the operating work itself:
- Assembling evidence
- Pulling primary and recognized-source records into one place, once.
- Chasing what is missing
- Following an unanswered board query or an unreturned form until it resolves.
- Applying the organization’s policy
- Running the organization’s own rules against the file, not a generic checklist.
- Producing a receipt
- A dated record of what was checked, where, and what it returned.
