Georgia practical nurses

Check a Georgia LPN license in the Board of Nursing’s official search. Match the practical nurse’s identity and license number, then record status, expiration and restrictions. If the nurse relies on a multistate license, verify that status separately before treating the license as authority to practice in Georgia.

What makes an LPN check different?

Run the check in the Board of Nursing’s official search1 and choose the practical-nurse license type in the source record. An RN application, a training certificate or a nurse aide registry entry is not an LPN license. Keep the role’s required license type beside the result so reviewers compare like with like.

When names differ across documents, resolve the mismatch with the applicant using your approved identity process. Do not merge two people’s records because their names resemble each other.

Which renewal date should you use?

Georgia’s LPN guide states a 2-year renewal cycle, with regular renewal due March 31 in odd-numbered years2. Read the expiration on the actual license and check the Board’s current instructions when renewal is approaching.

A submitted renewal and an active license are different states. Record what the official source says today. Leave unresolved items with the responsible person rather than changing the label to complete.

How does the check reach the hiring team?

Give the hiring reviewer the source result, check date and any exception. Keep health, background, training and employment requirements on their own lines. The organization makes its start decision from the complete role record. If the nurse holds a multistate license3, see the Georgia compact guide.

This structure makes the next renewal easier: the team can see the last evidence, the next due date and the owner without searching an email chain. Give every license exception an owner, so the clinician and the hiring team work from the same current question.

Questions

Is a CNA registry entry an LPN license?

No. Nurse aide registration and practical-nurse licensure are separate qualifications with different sources.

Can an LPN use the Nurse Licensure Compact?

Eligible LPN/VN licensees can hold a multistate license. Check the individual’s status and the applicable state rules.

Does applying for renewal complete our check?

No. A renewal application records a request. Your check must record the status currently shown by the official source.

What if an item remains unresolved?

Keep the requirement open, name the person handling it and record the next action. Your authorized reviewer decides what the unresolved item means for the role.
